Niels

Hi all!
Niels, mooie foto!

Cecil L. Simmons was in the Michigan National Guard, 31st Inf Div before WW2. He commanded H/502 in Normandy, RHQ Co. 502 in Holland, was XO of 3rd battalion at Bastogne and became 3/502 commander after Major Stopka was KIA on 14 January, 1945. He was the last battalion commander of 3/502 in WW2 and the only one of three commanders who survived the war. After WW2 he became a two star general and commander of the entire Michigan National Guard. Big Cec was also a policeman in Grand Rapids, MI before WW2 and a Traffic Engineer for that city after WW2.
